KuPS play here, and the club has given the stadium several names. It began life as Kuopion keskuskenttä in 1939, then became Magnum Areena and Savon Sanomat Areena before settling on VäreAreena. The surface under the players is artificial turf with undersoil heating, laid down in 2020 after the old pitch failed UEFA tests.

The attendance record belongs to a match back in 1981, when 7,412 people squeezed into the stands for a game between KuPS and Kuopion PS. The stadium has also hosted European matches, including qualifiers against Derry City and Tromsø, and once staged the Kuningaskilpailut horse races in the fifties and sixties.

KuPS have used the ground for the Finnish League Cup Final and for recent Europa Conference League matches. The city manages the facility, and fans find information through the club's website rather than a dedicated stadium page. The main stand holds 2,700 seats, with a standing terrace added during the 2003–2005 rebuild that cost nearly six million euros.
