Shenzhen Youth Football Training Base Stadium
Shenzhen, China
On 12 February 2025, the same day the AFC U-20 Asian Cup began, the main pitch at the Shenzhen Youth Football Training Base staged its first match: China against Qatar, won 2-1 by the hosts. Iran beat Indonesia 3-0 there the following day.
The main stadium, with its natural grass, is Phase II of a much larger complex in the Guangming District, out at Gongming Street. Seven further pitches, all artificial turf, sit around it. Before the 10,000-seat bowl was finished, the smaller surfaces were already carrying competitive football — Shenzhen Jixiang have played Chinese Champions League and FA Cup ties on Pitch 1, which holds 1,100.
Building took from 2021 to the start of 2025, but the idea runs back further.
Shenzhen 2028 F.C., founded in November 2023 under the city's Olympic Glory Plan, was assembled to develop players for the Los Angeles Games of 2028 and plays in China League Two. Before it arrived, the big pitch had no professional side of its own.
