Stadium

SK Mladost

Formerly: Smederevo Stadium, Stadion kraj Stare železare, Tvrđava, Sartid Stadium

The stadium takes its bearings from the district around it rather than from any club badge. It stands on Kraj Stare Železare, in the neighbourhood known as Stara Železara — the old ironworks — and for decades that industrial address did more to define the ground than any team playing on it.

Few grounds in Serbia have changed hands, and names, as often. What opened as home to a club called Sartid in the 1920s and 30s went through spells as Metalac, Jedinstvo, Budućnost, Metalurg and Smederevo itself, each shift tracking a change in the town's factory ownership or political calendar rather than anything decided on the pitch. The ground absorbed those changes under a handful of working names — Smederevo Stadium, Stadion kraj Stare Železare, Tvrđava, Sartid Stadium — before the current identity settled.

The pitch and stands went through their own overhaul later, with work carried out across the 1990s — 1993–94, then again in 1996, 1998 and 1999 — before a further reconstruction in 2000 brought the ground closer to its present form. That decade of piecemeal building explains why the stadium reads less as a single project than as a structure assembled in stages, each one tied to whichever club was using the Tvrđava name at the time.
