Southern Soccer Facility
Adelaide, Australia
The Southern Soccer Facility sits at the corner of Majors and Adams Roads in Trott Park, Adelaide. It opened in April 2022, part of a wider precinct that includes the Sam Willoughby International BMX Facility. The site is defined by its four professional-standard pitches, all floodlit and covered in artificial turf.
There is nothing particularly imposing about the architecture. The pitches themselves are immaculate, stretching out under the evening floodlights in the night shots. The Cove Football Club, known as The Cove FC, plays its home matches here, and the grandstands fill out for their fixtures. The ground hosted the 2024 State League 2 Grand Final, a match The Cove FC won.
The location places it firmly within the City of Marion local government area, distinct from the older Cove Sports and Community Club complex at Hallett Cove that served as the previous home for the soccer side. The facility operates under the banner of the council, with the South Australian State Government providing partnership funding for its construction. It is designed for endurance, with the surface built to withstand the relentless Australian sun and the demands of high-level competition without the fragility of natural grass.
The atmosphere inside is intimate, which keeps the crowd close to the action on the pitch.
