Spain Park
Ask locals what sets Spain Park apart from Aberdeen's bigger grounds and the answer starts underfoot: this was the first pitch in the city laid with 3G artificial turf, installed for the 2011–12 season with backing from sportscotland. The surface let Banks O' Dee train and play through the Aberdeenshire winter, and the pitch was built oversized, wide enough to host youth international fixtures rather than just Highland League fare.
That dual purpose still shapes the ground today. Spain Park carries the club's regular Highland Football League programme and, when the draw allows, Scottish Cup ties that bring a bigger crowd down Abbotswell Road than the 876-capacity ground usually sees. A round of upgrades in the years before 2022 added LED floodlights and solar panels.
Banks O' Dee themselves go back to 1902, giving the club more than a century in Aberdeen's football landscape, though the exact year Spain Park opened has not been established.
