Sparebanken Vest Arena
Nærbø, Norway
Formerly: Nye Loen
The Sparebanken Vest Arena does not sit quietly on the edge of Nærbø.
While the complex hosts the local handball side, the outdoor pitch is the part of the facility that catches the eye. It is a rectangular strip of artificial grass, marked with the bright white lines of a football pitch. The surface, a VARIOSLIDE SUPREME ELITE 60 system, stretches out beneath the open sky, bordered by a low concrete wall.
It sits close to the pitch, creating a sense of enclosure that is unusual for such a small-town venue. It is a functional space, built for winter sports and summer football, and it has become a central point for the local sporting community. The name has changed over time, but the building remains a constant feature of the landscape.
