Sparekassen Danmark Hallen / Djurslands Bank Arena

Aarhus, Denmark

Formerly: Aarhus Stadionhal, NRGi Arena, Ceres Arena

The ground sits in the oldest part of Aarhus, where the city’s history begins. It opened in 2001 as part of a major renovation of the complex, replacing what came before it. The building has changed its name twice since then, first becoming NRGi Arena and later Djurslands Bank Arena. It is an indoor arena built to hold five thousand people, with a capacity that was expanded from four thousand seven hundred seats in 2009.

The pitch is not grass but a hard surface designed for handball, where Skanderborg AGF Håndbold and Aarhus United play their home games. The arena has also hosted the basketball team Bakken Bears and the handball club Århus GF. It is described as Denmark’s fourth largest indoor arena. The venue hosts international handball matches and concerts, including a notable AC/DC performance in 2016. It is situated within the Aarhus C postal district, which encompasses the inner city including Midtbyen. The building stands as part of the Aarhus Idrætspark sports complex, a place where the city plays its games and holds its events.
