Sport Complex Oshten
Maykop, Russia
The Sport Complex Oshten sits on Stepnaya Street in Maykop. The complex opened on 27 May 2016, following a period of stagnation that began in 2010 when construction halted due to a lack of federal funding. It was only after a meeting in May 2014 between the head of Adygea and the Russian Minister of Sport that the financing was secured, allowing work to resume. The total cost of the facility was approximately 365 million rubles under the 2006–2015 development programme.
The main hall features tribunes for 1,300 spectators and houses a variety of indoor sports facilities, including a boxing ring and a table tennis hall. Costing 262 million rubles, almost entirely funded by the federal treasury, it is the first ice arena in Adygea. Its ice surface measures 29 by 60 metres, and it holds 301 seats.
The complex was revived in 2014 after a suspension of work in 2010. The site covers 9.5 hectares, a footprint that accommodates both the original fitness centre and the subsequent ice infrastructure.
