Shatili Sports Complex

Shatili keeps a name most visitors have to be told twice: the ground opened in 1990 as Stadioni Sikharuli and only picked up its current tag after the 2010 rebuild reopened it that December. Nothing about the place announces itself from the street — it sits off Tamarashvili, near the Sarajishvili and Guramishvili metro stops, a small artificial-turf pitch under floodlights rather than a landmark arena.

What keeps it running is the roster of tenants who actually need a ground this size. FC Tskhumi Sokhumi is the main occupant, but the sheet has included Norchi Dinamo Tbilisi, FC Aeti Sokhumi, STU Tbilisi and Sasco Tbilisi, plus visiting sides such as WIT Georgia, Dinamo Tbilisi's second team, Spaeri, Skuri, Samtskhe, Varketili and Merani — most of that traffic arriving through the Kipiani Cup and the lower regional leagues rather than top-flight fixtures.

There's a small irony folded into the address. Shatili as a place name belongs to a village up in Dusheti municipality, in Mtskheta-Mtianeti, hours north in the mountains. The stadium that borrows the name has never been anywhere near it — every address line on record ties it to Tbilisi. For a ground built to hold 2,000 people, that's about as much of a story as it needs.
