Sportovní hala České Budějovice
České Budějovice, Czechia
Formerly: Všesportovní hala, Sportovní hala Stromovka
This is not a football arena. It is an indoor hall for ball sports, and the wooden floor inside is a specific size, twenty-eight by forty-eight metres, built for volleyball, handball, and basketball.
The capacity has stayed the same since the doors opened in 1965. The seating is divided, with one thousand five hundred seats on the hall floor and another eleven hundred on the stands. A roof reconstruction finished in 2022 to the value of thirty million Czech koruna, but the layout did not change.
The hall is the home of VK Jihostroj České Budějovice, a club that plays in the Czech Extraliga and travels for European competitions. The Champions League has brought matches here, including a win against SVG Lüneburg in January 2024.
A new facility is planned to replace this hall, a ball sports centre intended to hold five thousand people, but the current roof still covers the wooden floor. The hall is not the outdoor artificial turf field that shares the same address. The venue is distinct from the outdoor pitch. The seating arrangement is fixed.
