What sets it apart sits underfoot rather than overhead.
The bowl itself grew in stages rather than in one grand rebuild. A first major overhaul came in 1956, then the turn of the millennium brought the removal of the athletics track and new north and south stands built for the 1999–2000 season. The central stand followed in 2004, when hospitality boxes and a press centre were added. By then the Aube had become fully seated.
It remains a working ground rather than a monument: a November 2019 closure, needed to fix roof defects, kept the gates shut for three days before ESTAC Troyes returned to a stadium built for football and, by design, little else.
