Stade de la Maladière
The ground that stood here before went out in a way few stadiums do. The first Maladière, opened on 4 August 1924 and known as the Parc des sports, held 25,500.
The second Maladière opened on 18 February 2007 with a friendly against La Chaux-de-Fonds. Neuchâtel Xamax won 3–2 in front of a sell-out crowd of 12,000 — the capacity of the new ground, against the 25,500 of the old one.
The pitch has been synthetic since the day it opened, FIFA-certified, and has been relaid twice — in 2015 and in 2022.
The exception came in May 2008, when rolls of natural turf were laid over the synthetic pitch so that the Portugal squad could train here during Euro 2008. The covering was temporary. The surface underneath stayed as it was, and has done since 2007.
