Stade de la Mosson
The name still records it: after hosting matches at France 98, the stadium was renamed Stade de la Mosson-Mondial 98.
The club replaced the original surface in the summer of 2024 with a newer generation of the same idea — natural grass rooted into a synthetic base of cork, microfibres and sand, built to survive a heavier fixture load than pure turf can take.
Montpellier has tried more than once to give the stadium a sponsor's name. The city opened a search for a naming partner in April 2021, and by the summer of 2026 no deal had been struck, leaving the ground to answer only to its official title. A separate plan loomed larger: a replacement, the Stade Louis-Nicollin, was meant to succeed the Mosson altogether. That project was shelved in September 2025, so for now the club stays where it started, on Avenue de Heidelberg.
