Stade de Mont Fleuri
Victoria, Seychelles
The official name for the venue in the Roche Caiman Sports Complex is Stade Linité, although it is frequently called Stade de Mont Fleuri in local discourse. The distinction matters less than the fact that it sits in the Mont Fleuri district, where the local playing field for Foresters Mont Fleuri FC is a different matter altogether, battling a stream that overruns its drainage system. That pitch floods; this one does not.
The ground was built in 1992 and opened in 1993, timed to coincide with the 4th Indian Ocean Island Games that Seychelles hosted. The National Sports Council of Seychelles runs the facility, which has been home to the Pirates, the national team, as well as St Michel United FC and Saint Louis Suns United. The surface is artificial astroturf, laid down in 2007.
The capacity is 10,000, a figure reached in 2011 when the Indian Ocean Island Games final brought together Seychelles and Mauritius. That match held the record, though the semi-final draw of 6,500 against Réunion was not far behind. The stadium has seen continental competition, hosting Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers and matches in the CAF Confederation Cup, including a game against Nigeria in 2018.
