Stade de Paris

Saint-Ouen, France

Formerly: Stade du Red Star, Stade Municipal Paris Saint-Ouen

Stade de Paris sits in Saint-Ouen. The ground owes its current name to the street it stands on, rue du Docteur-Bauer, which in turn honours a Resistance fighter executed by the Nazis in 1942. The club, Red Star FC 93, changed the stadium’s name to Stade Bauer in February 2021, though many still call it Stade du Red Star. The pitch itself returned to natural grass in September 2021, after an artificial surface installed around 2011 was stripped out during renovations.

Red Star FC built the enclosure in 1909, and the first match took place shortly after. The current official seating is 7,600, a figure that remains restricted compared to the 23,341 record set in 1935 for a Division 1 contest against FC Sochaux. That match ended 2-7.

France played England on this ground in 1911, losing 3-0, and later hosted matches at the 1924 Summer Olympics. The rugby league team also used the pitch during the European Rugby League Championships in the 1930s and 1950s. More recently, the stadium became a training venue for football at the 2024 Paris Olympics. The promoter Groupe Réalités bought the enclosure from the city in 2021 and is working toward a full capacity of 10,000 by the end of 2027, including 1,870 standing places. The club’s website, https://www.redstar.fr/, lists the address as 92, rue du Docteur-Bauer, 93400 Saint-Ouen-sur-Seine.
