Stade Maurice Dufrasne
The ground sits in Sclessin, at the end of Rue de la Centrale. No sponsor's name has ever been fixed to it. It opened in 1909 and is still, formally, Stade Maurice Dufrasne, though a good part of the city has always called it Stade de Sclessin.
The largest crowd it has held came on 4 February 1959, when 36,000 packed in for a European Cup quarter-final against Reims. Standard won 2-0. That figure has not been approached since.
International football has come to Sclessin in bursts rather than steadily. The 1972 European Championship third-place match was played here, Belgium and Hungary drawing 1-1. Twenty-eight years later, when Belgium and the Netherlands staged Euro 2000, the ground took three group games: Germany 1-1 Romania, Norway 0-1 Yugoslavia, Denmark 0-2 Czech Republic. Belgium have also used it for World Cup qualifiers.
Not every occasion has been a sporting one. During the 2012 Belgian Cup semi-final against Gent, a supporter died in the stands, and the match was halted.
