What sets the ground at Buganda apart from the other pitches strung along Burundi's north-west is who put it there. It remains in public hands — the state and the commune, not a club.
Royal Vision 2026, Green Maze, Vital'O, Athlético Olympic, Rukinzo and Bumamuru have all used it as a home venue.
What the stadium does not have is floodlights.
President Pierre Nkurunziza performed the official opening on 15 September 2016. The ground was known then as Stade de Buganda , and the older name still circulates alongside the current one. It has not been rebuilt or expanded since.
