Stadio Comunale Bellinzona

Stadio Comunale Bellinzona belongs to the town, not to a company or a club board, and the Via Lucomagno address still points to the same municipal ground that opened its gates on 27 May 1947. What has changed since then is the crowd it can hold. At the opening the ground took around 20,000 people, with a single roofed stand seating 1,000 — but has shrunk steadily under tighter safety rules ever since, down to the 5,000 capacity it carries today.

The two renovation rounds tell the rest of the story. Work in 2008 and 2009, costing 2.1 million francs, added a 500-seat away section, and a second phase in 2019 and 2020 renewed the running track, rebuilt the 450-seat east stand and installed an LED scoreboard. What stands now is split into five distinct blocks — the 600-seat Tribuna Principale, the 3,000-seat Tribuna Giubiasco behind one goal, two lateral stands of 450 seats apiece, and the 500-seat away sector.

AC Bellinzona plays its home matches here: a women's international against Italy in 1980 drawing 600 spectators, a men's fixture against Czechoslovakia in 1987 pulling 5,300, and an under-20 women's game against Denmark in 2006 attracting just 220. The ground also hosted a Swiss Cup last-16 tie between AC Bellinzona and FC Zürich in October 2023.
