Stadio Danilo Martelli
Mantua, Italy
Formerly: Stadio Benito Mussolini
The Stadio Danilo Martelli sits in Mantua, Italy, at Viale Te 7/9. The stadium was originally named after Benito Mussolini and was later renamed in honour of Danilo Martelli, a player who died in the Superga air disaster of 1949.
The site was once a multi-purpose facility, including a track where spectators were allowed to stand during the 1960s 'golden decade'. The capacity stood at 21,000 then. The track was demolished in 2005 and replaced by the 'Curva Te' stand, while safety regulations have kept the current capacity at 11,219. The official attendance record of 25,000 remains untouched, set on June 1, 1967, during a Serie A match against Inter Milan. That day, the loss cost Inter the title and was defined by the 'Papera di Sarti' incident.
The ground is home to A.C. Mantova (Mantova 1911). In June 2025, the stadium was officially renamed Danilo Martelli – Pata Stadium following a sponsorship agreement with the Portuguese brand Pata. The playing surface is natural grass.
