Stadio Marcantonio Bentegodi
It came with the rebuild that ran from 1986 to 1990, when the bowl was reworked ahead of the 1990 World Cup and a second tier went up above the original structure.
The same work reshaped how many people can actually get in. The official figure now stands at 39,211, but only around 31,000 seats are approved for use at matches on safety grounds. Before the rebuild the ground had grown the other way, from an opening capacity of 40,000 to 45,000.
Of those, 38,767 bought tickets on the day and 9,129 came in on season passes.
The first match here, on 15 December 1963, was a Serie B fixture against Venezia. The design was led by the engineer Leopoldo Barucchello, working with Sergio Bonamico, Riccardo Guglielmi and Silvano Zorzi, and Mazzi Costruzioni carried out the building under a turnkey contract.
The name has not moved since that opening night. Marcantonio Bentegodi was a benefactor of sport in Verona, and the ground carried his name through the rebuild and out the other side.
