The tower blocks on Via Andrea Costa give way to a curved brick wall and an arch wide enough for a horse and rider.

The name changed twice. From 1945 it was the Stadio Comunale; in 1983 it took the name of Renato Dall'Ara , who ran Bologna from 1934 until 1964.

Four matches were played here that summer, including England's 1–0 win over Belgium. Fifty-six years earlier the ground had hosted the 1934 tournament — Sweden beat Argentina 3–2, Austria beat Hungary 2–1.

A €200 million rebuild for Euro 2032 was announced in November 2024 and dropped in April 2026 once the figure passed €220 million.
