The stands sit closer to the pitch than many modern venues, a result of the space available in the town centre rather than any desire to create intimacy.

On matchdays, the crowd fills the lower rows with colour, while the upper tiers remain mostly empty, creating a sense of verticality that mirrors the hill behind.

The playing surface is natural grass, cut in stripes that run parallel to the short side. It is a tight rectangle, with advertising boards close to the touchline and a small, separate area for the substitutes. The atmosphere tends to be loud when the home side wins, a sound that carries up the valley and across the town, but quieter when the visitors dominate the play. The stands have not changed their layout since the modernisation, which converted the ground to an all-seater facility and met the licensing requirements for European competition.

Visitors arrive through the same gate they have used for decades, walking past the ticket office and into the concourse. There is little to see apart from the seats and the pitch, but the view from the top of the stand, looking out over the rooftops and up towards the forest edge, remains a constant feature. The hill is always there, watching the game unfold below.
