Stadion Mriya
Mariupol, Ukraine
Formerly: Novator Stadium, Illichivets Stadium
The stadium that FC Mariupol calls home sits in Petrovskyi Park, nestled along the Mariupol–Donetsk highway. It has a long history that began in 1956 as Novator Stadium. It was not a quiet place. The local industrial infrastructure built it, and in 2001 the Azovstal steelworks funded a full rebuild that increased the capacity to 12,680 spectators. The club has been the primary tenant since 1960, and the ground was renamed Volodymyr Boyko Stadium in 2018 to honour the former player. It hosted the semi-final of the 2009 UEFA European Under-19 Championship between Ukraine and Serbia.
The playing surface is natural grass. The stands are divided into covered and uncovered sections. There is no heating system, and the stands are open to the elements. The stadium was damaged during the Siege of Mariupol in 2022, and the pitch withered due to lack of maintenance. The damage was irreparable.
The club operates a website at fcmariupol.com, but the stadium does not have a separate official site. The capacity figures vary slightly between 12,460 and 12,680, with the higher number being the most consistently reported figure for the post-2001 configuration. The stadium has been silent since the invasion, its stands empty and its pitch overgrown.
