Stadion Strelnice

Jablonec nad Nisou, Czechia

Formerly: Chance Arena

The main stand at Stadion Střelnice in Jablonec nad Nisou cuts a clean line against the hills, but the ground tells its story.

The stadium has lived through a number of identities. From 2007 to 2014 it carried the name Chance Arena, but that sponsorship expired long ago. The current structure dates back to a major project completed in 2006, when the club finally secured the facilities needed for top-flight football in the Czech Republic. Before that rebuild, the pitch was shared with the track.

What you see in the photographs is the result of that work. The Western Stand has been rebuilt, and the new Eastern Stand sits behind the goal, complete with VIP areas that are not visible from the outside but are part of the structure. The pitch itself is a hybrid surface, maintained to handle the wear of both football and the occasional athletics meeting.

The altitude puts the ground at 542 metres above sea level, which adds a layer of difficulty for visiting teams. The weather changes quickly in these mountains. FK Jablonec has called this place home since the municipality took ownership in 1955, when the first modern grandstand was built. The name Střelnice, meaning “Shooting Range,” refers to a local shooting club that used the site in 1927, setting the stage for the facilities that followed.

The ground has hosted a few notable events, including a UEFA Under-19 final and matches for the Czech national team. But the regular rhythm of the place is set by the local league, played out in front of crowds that fill the blue seats when the weather holds.
