Stadion Vegesack
Vegesack is a district out on Bremen's northern edge, and its stadium sits right where the district's identity does: at the Bahnhofsplatz. That address alone tells most of the story.
SG Aumund-Vegesack have called it home since a club history that stretches back to 1892, and the pitch itself has moved with the times rather than the building around it: the old grass long since gave way to synthetic turf, still referred to locally by the older term Kunstrasenplatz. The floodlights were overhauled in 2015, and a long jump track next to the pitch was redone the following year — the kind of unglamorous maintenance that keeps a small ground functional without ever making headlines.
The more telling recent chapter concerns the changing rooms. An inspection between 2018 and 2020 found the old building unsafe, and the club and city agreed it had to come down rather than be patched up again. Planning for a replacement started in 2021, the project was folded into a federally subsidised renovation programme the following year, and construction on the new building finally got under way in 2023. Capacity stands at 3,000, which fits a ground built for a district club rather than a big-city occasion — no finals, no concerts, nothing on record to suggest it was ever meant to be more than that.
