Stadionul Inter Gaz
Popești-Leordeni sits just south of Bucharest, and its ground never pretended to be more than what it is: a Liga III arena built for a town, not a city. The Stadionul Inter Gaz opened in 1985, when the settlement was still finding its shape on the edge of the capital, and it has stayed close to that original scale ever since — nothing here was rebuilt for a bigger ambition.
SC Popești-Leordeni, founded in 2011, took the ground over in 2012 and has run its home fixtures there since. The record with the surface says more about how little fuss surrounds this place than about the pitch itself — Europlan lists natural grass, other records point to artificial turf, and nobody has bothered to settle the question publicly.
The ground found a rare moment of weight in June 2026, when Popești-Leordeni hosted a promotion play-off against Unirea Alba Iulia. The home side won 2:0 to book a place in Liga II, and by most accounts the stands were as full as a 2,000-capacity ground gets — though nobody logged the exact number through the gate. Two years earlier, in August 2024, the same pitch had staged a Cupa României tie against CS Dinamo București, which Popești-Leordeni won 5:0, a scoreline well beyond what a lower-league side usually takes from a cup night against Bucharest opposition.
Outside those two afternoons, the stadium has kept a low profile — no finals, no concerts, nothing beyond league football on Strada Leordeni.
