Stadionul Iuliu Hațieganu
Cluj-Napoca, Romania
Formerly: Stadionul 1 Mai, Stadionul CFR, Stadionul Mociorniță
The archive holds conflicting data on the capacity of this Cluj-Napoca ground. One figure circles 2,000, another 1,000, and a third, 500. The larger number, 15,000, belongs to the modern Cluj Arena built in the same sports park in 2011. That newer sibling swallowed the crowds. This older one was left to serve the rugby union.
The venue opened under a different name, Stadionul 1 Mai, before it was renamed to honour Iuliu Hațieganu. A renovation in 2009 by Dico și Țigănaș cleared out the old structure and set the seats in place. The ground sits on Strada Pandurilor, nr. 7. The surface is natural grass, cut in stripes. It hosts matches for CS Universitatea Cluj. The history between the rugby club and the city is long, but the stadium itself feels quiet.
