Stadium
Stayen
Formerly: Staaie, Daio Wasabi Stayen Stadium
Stayen has spent a century sitting on the same western edge of Sint-Truiden.
What sets Stayen apart in Belgian football is underfoot rather than overhead. When the club laid an artificial pitch in 2011, it became the first ground in the Jupiler Pro League to do so. STVV have stuck with the surface since, and as of last year the club was again replacing the artificial turf.
The naming history reads almost as long as the rebuilding one. The stadium answered to Staaie until 2009. Then, in February 2023, ownership of the naming rights passed to a Japanese company, Daio Wasabi Farm, turning the ground into the Daio Wasabi Stayen Stadium — the first time a Japanese firm has held naming rights to a stadium anywhere in Belgian football.
