Stedelijk Sportstadion
Old habit, this one. The Stedelijk Sportstadion in Hasselt has been the ground on the Oude Kuringerbaan, and everything about it since has been about how much of the crowd could actually get in, not whether they'd show up. When Sporting Hasselt reached the first division in 1979, the club patched together temporary wooden stands and briefly stretched capacity to seventeen thousand — a figure the ground never came close to holding since. What stands now is a leaner arrangement of business seats, an honour stand, covered standing terraces and open ends, adding up to 8,800.
The pitch itself is a small point of confusion locally: club and municipal sources from 2023 describe two new artificial-turf fields laid down as part of a fresh renovation phase, while other registers still list the surface as natural grass. Either way, the stadium sits in the Heilig Hart district, a name that gives away more about the neighbourhood's character than any statistic could.
