Südstadion
Südstadion opened in January 1978, and Fortuna Köln has played there ever since.
The record for its terraces was set on 4 April 1983, when Fortuna Köln beat Borussia Dortmund 5:0 in a DFB-Pokal semi-final, drawing 14,500 through the gates. In 1999 the place produced a stranger scene: club president Jean Löring sacked coach Toni Schumacher at half-time of a match and took his place on the bench himself.
Löring's name now sits over the whole complex — the wider sports park was renamed Jean-Löring-Sportpark in 2014 in his honour, even as the stadium itself kept its own identity. The pitch remains natural grass, and in 2015 the club fitted undersoil heating at a cost of roughly €800,000. Earlier work, in 2008–09 and again in 2012, brought the stands and floodlights up to the standard required for 2. Bundesliga football.
FC Köln's women's team played several seasons there, and Cologne Centurions now bring American football to the same turf.
