Sundhöll Selfoss (men), Selfossvöllur
Selfoss, Iceland
Formerly: Selfossvöllur
The pitch at JÁVERK-völlurinn sits quietly on Engjavegi 50. It is a small ground, holding 2,200 souls in total, though only 750 are warmed by seats.
Locals know it as Selfossvöllur, but since 2014 the name has shifted. The construction firm Jáverk bought the rights, and suddenly the ground bore a corporate tag on its side. It is not a place of grand history, with no official opening year to boast about. The Wikipedia pages list the fields as empty, suggesting the history is written in memory rather than archives. UMF Selfoss plays here.
There is no attendance record that would make a visitor pause. No finals have been played under its floodlights, and no concerts have shaken the windows. It is simply the place where the town plays football.
Other facilities exist nearby, like the Sundhöll Selfoss swimming complex or the Hleðsluhöllin handball arena, but this patch of turf is distinct. It does not compete for attention. It does not need to. The surface is natural, the boundaries are clear, and the game is played as it has always been played in Small towns. It is the only ground in town for football, and that is enough.
