Svangaskarð

The ground above Toftir does the talking. Svangaskarð was cut into the hillside and opened in 1980 with none of the trimmings — a gravel pitch, and a hut standing in for changing rooms. What the village had instead was a full-size playing surface at a time when that alone put it ahead of most of the archipelago.

On 8 June 1997, in a World Cup qualifier against Malta, 6,642 people came through the gates and the hosts ground out the win, 2–1. The ground's official capacity of 6,000 has stood below that mark ever since — around 3,500 of it seated, the rest terracing.

The pitch changed twice in short order. B68 Toftir sold the natural turf in August 2011, and in 2012 the surface was replaced outright with synthetic grass. The name has not moved with the money: no sponsor has been attached to it, though older records still list the venue as Tofta Leikvøllur .
