Sveti Petar Cetinjski

Cetinje built its ground the old way, on the same patch of earth it had used since 1957. The site sits at Obilića Poljana, inside the historic core of the former royal capital, close by the old cemetery — the kind of location that would never be granted to a stadium built today.

What stood there for six decades was a modest ground of the same name, Stadion Obilića Poljana, home to FK Lovćen since it opened. Lovćen is the oldest football club in Montenegro, founded in 1913, and it never played anywhere else. That continuity is the point: when the old stand came down in 2017, the club did not move, it waited. Demolition began that November, and a new stadium rose on the identical footprint, carrying a new name, Sveti Petar Cetinjski, after the Montenegrin ruler.

The rebuild was not cheap for a ground this size, running to roughly nine million euros, and it changed the stadium's character rather than just its capacity. The pitch is now a hybrid surface, a step most clubs at this level in Montenegro have not taken. FK Cetinje and the women's side of Lovćena also use the ground, so on a given weekend it can carry three different sets of colours through the same tunnel.

For a stadium in a city this small, that shared use matters more than the record books do. Cetinje is not Podgorica; there is no second arena to fall back on, and Sveti Petar Cetinjski is, in practice, the only serious pitch the old royal capital has.
