There is a scoreboard at the far end of the pitch that claims it is the home of Sporting Kansas City. A more accurate history requires looking past the advertising. The facility opened in 2007 as a public-private partnership. It sits within Swope Park, tucked away between East Meyer Boulevard and Swope Parkway.

The playing surface is a hybrid system, a blend of natural grass and synthetic fibres. Sporting Kansas City II has played on this pitch since 2016, while the league’s former women’s side, FC Kansas City, once called it home before folding. The main field was originally branded as the Swope Soccer Village Stadium. The naming rights were later sold to Children's Mercy, changing the official title to Children's Mercy Victory Field.

The attendance record for a match here was set in 2016, with 3,282 people watching FC Kansas City take on the Houston Dash.
