Techny Park Turf Field

Techny Park Turf Field starts from the opposite premise: the fields came first, laid out in synthetic turf so that two sports with different seasons could share the same rectangle without either wearing it out.

They opened in 2006, and that date now carries weight the park did not plan for. In January 2026 the park district was awarded an OSLAD grant of $600,000 for exactly that reason: the 2006-era facilities have reached the end of theirs. The money is directed at the play areas, at baseball field number 29 and at other structures around the site. Whether the turf rectangles themselves are replaced under this grant is not spelt out in the award.

There is no seating figure to quote, no stand to describe, no former name to trace back. Visitors come for the fixture and stand where they can.
