TEDA Football Stadium

The TEDA Football Stadium stands in the Binhai New District. Built in 2004, it opened as one of the few grounds in China with a fully enclosed roof. It served as the home for Tianjin Jinmen Tiger F.C. for many years, though the club moved its matches to the Tianjin Olympic Center Stadium between 2014 and 2023.

The ground has a distinct character, defined largely by the events that shaped it. In 2015, the 2015 Tianjin explosions struck the nearby Port of Tianjin, and the stadium fell silent for years while reconstruction began in 2017. It took until July 2023 for the work to be completed, bringing the venue back into use. The capacity remains approximately 36,390, a figure unchanged by the rebuild.

Visually, the structure is striking.

The stadium hosted matches during the 2007 FIFA Women's World Cup and the 2008 FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Cup. It also saw the China national team play friendlies against Hungary, Saudi Arabia, and Singapore. The official highest attendance record for a single match is 30,200, set during a Beijing-Tianjin Derby between Tianjin Jinmen Tiger and Beijing Guoan. During the preparations for the 2023 AFC Asian Cup, the venue was temporarily renamed Binhai Football Stadium, but it reverted to its original name after the tournament's cancellation.
