Building began in 2003 on the old Prince Edward Playing Fields at Canons Park, paid for by Stadia Investment Group, which meant the stadium for Wealdstone FC. The company went bust in 2004 and the work stopped where it stood. When the London Borough of Harrow put the land out to tender in 2006, Barnet FC bought the lease and finished what someone else had started.

The move came in July 2013, ending the club's time at Underhill, which was demolished five years later. In 2018 Barnet bought the freehold from Harrow outright.

East and West Stands came first, the latter holding 2,700 and completed across 2013 and 2014, followed by a 1,890-seat North Stand in 2017 and a medical centre. A South Stand was drawn up to take the capacity towards 8,000; as of 2026 it has not been built.

Beyond Barnet, the pitch — a VerdeMix hybrid surface laid by Limonta Sport — has taken a broad range of tenants: London Bees since 2014, London Broncos for a rugby league season in 2014–15, and Tottenham Hotspur's women's side from 2019 to 2022.

The record crowd, 6,215, came on 28 January 2019, when Barnet drew 3–3 with Brentford in the FA Cup.
