The Sussex Transport Community Stadium

The Sussex Transport Community Stadium is no marvel of engineering, but it has enough character of its own to be worth noting.

The history here is layered and a little tangled. The site opened in 1892 as a sports ground, but the current football stadium was developed on the northern portion in 1937. That older date is often cited, yet the ground as it stands today is much younger. The playing surface is artificial, a 3G synthetic grass that was fully re-installed in 2021 after the original surface proved problematic. It is a practical solution for a club that has had to fight for stability.

Worthing FC has not had an easy ride. The recent past has seen them work the channels to secure their future. A significant investment from minority shareholder Gilbert Investments funded structural upgrades in April 2024, including a new covered North Stand. Those improvements were driven by necessity as much as ambition.

The all-time attendance record is 4,002, set on April 25, 2026, for a National League South title-deciding match against Ebbsfleet United, which secured promotion to the National League. The ground has also hosted FA Cup First Round ties, including a tie against Morecambe in 2024–25. These are matches that give the town something to talk about.
