Timsah Arena
Bursa, Turkey
Formerly: Bursa Büyükşehir Belediyesi Stadyumu, Timsah Arena, Timsah Park, Bitci Timsah Park, Sütaş Timsah Park
Atatürk Spor Kompleksi Matlı Stadyumu does not pretend to be a building from the old city. The old ground had been in use since 1950, but its demolition in late 2016 cleared the way for something entirely different.
The field itself is natural grass, laid over a heating system to keep the surface playable during the cold Bursa winters.
It started as Timsah Arena, moved through Timsah Park and Bitci Timsah Park before becoming Sütaş Timsah Park and finally adopting the Matlı sponsorship in late 2024. Despite the commercial labels, the legal name remains Centennial Atatürk Stadium, a reference to the republic’s centenary that the builders chose to honour even though the stadium was completed a few years before the anniversary.
