Tiposbet Arena Zvolen
Zvolen, Slovakia
Formerly: Zimný štadión Zvolen, Steiger aréna
The Tiposbet Arena Zvolen is a hockey hall. It opened for the 1969 season. A training hall followed in the 1980s and a full renovation in 2018.
What you see inside is the original skeleton. A large net protects the crowd in one corner, and a yellow Zamboni idles near the boards when the ice is flat. The scoreboard hangs from the steel trusses, and the upper windows let in the dull Slovak light. The colours have not changed, and neither has the shape.
The club that calls this home, HKM Zvolen, plays in the Slovak Extraliga and has used the building since it opened. The arena has held three different names—Zimný štadión Zvolen, Steiger aréna, and now Tiposbet Arena Zvolen—each one arriving when a sponsor found the right moment to step in. The city owns the site and the local forestry company runs the day-to-day work.
The capacity sits at 5,345, split between seated areas, standing room, and the small VIP boxes that line the upper tier. There is no standing record worth mentioning, and no need to invent one. The venue is not famous for its architecture, only for keeping the ice cold and the games moving through another winter.
