Titov Arena
Barnaul, Russia
Formerly: Palace of Sports and Entertainment, Palace of Sports and Entertainment named after G.S. Titov
The blue facade of Titov Arena sits flat against the sky. The surface inside is artificial ice, a 60 by 28 metre sheet where Dynamo-Altaiskaya plays their home games in the Supreme Hockey League (VHL).
There is a large LED screen mounted to the side of the main stand. Below it, the glass frontage runs the entire length of the lower tier. The venue was opened in 1966, though some sources argue for a date a few days later. It was renamed for Gherman Titov in 2001, and then rebuilt and renamed again in 2019. The reconstruction swallowed the wooden structures and replaced them with dark blue sandwich panels and new refrigeration units.
The crowds have come for ice hockey, but they have also gathered for rock bands and to pay their last respects to local politicians.
