Locals know it as the Tsentralny Stadium; on record it is also the Taraz-Arena named after Zhaksylyk Ushkempirov, honouring a Greco-Roman wrestling champion rather than a figure from the game played on its pitch — a naming choice that sets it apart from grounds tied to club patrons or football officials.

The stadium opened in 1939, which puts its history well ahead of most football venues still active in the region — decades before the current league structures, sponsors and even some of the cities it now plays host against existed. Through that stretch the pitch has stayed natural grass, a continuity that says less about upkeep records than about a ground that has kept to one purpose since long before it needed to compete for attention.

It stands in the Zhibek Zholy district of Taraz, on Tauke Khan street, with room for 12,525 spectators — a capacity built for the scale of Zhambyl region football rather than for a national showcase. No club is currently listed as playing its home fixtures there, so for now the arena's identity rests on its age and its borrowed name rather than on results earned on its own turf.
