Torpedo Stadium
Zhodino, Belarus
The stands themselves are built in sections, with the eastern side taking up a significant portion of the view.
The stadium opened its doors in 1969, built by the BelAZ plant to serve the local community. It was not a modern build from scratch; the structure has been worked on over the decades. A major reconstruction between 2011 and 2013 brought in new administrative buildings and upgraded the pitch heating system.
One can see the practical nature of the place. The pitch is natural grass, kept in condition by the heating system installed during the renovation.
The stadium has hosted matches for the national team and for European youth competitions, but these visits come and go. The daily life of the ground is played out by the local club, Torpedo-BelAZ.
