Formerly: Scorpions Community Stadium
Toyota Field started life as a private venture. Gordon Hartman , a San Antonio philanthropist, bankrolled the ground for his new NASL side, the Scorpions, and it opened its gates as Scorpions Community Stadium. The Scorpions beat the Fort Lauderdale Strikers in the Soccer Bowl to take the club's only NASL title. The team folded soon after, and in 2015 the city and Bexar County stepped in, buying the venue for $18 million with Spurs Sports & Entertainment adding a further $3 million.
San Antonio FC took over as tenants from 2016 and in 2022 beat Louisville City FC 3-1 in the USL Championship final to win the club's first league crown in front of a home crowd.
