Ask what to call this ground and the answer shifts by decade. Frisco's planners named the site Frisco Soccer & Entertainment Complex while it was still rising out of the ground between 2004 and 2005. Once the doors opened, sponsorship took over: Pizza Hut Park carried the venue from its opening in August 2005 through 2012, a brief spell as FC Dallas Stadium followed, and since 2013 the naming rights have belonged to Gulf States Toyota Distributors, giving the ground its current name.

The city of Frisco owns the stadium outright, and that municipal hand shows in how the calendar is shared. FC Dallas of MLS is the anchor tenant, but the pitch also turns over to Frisco Independent School District for high school football on autumn Friday nights, and to the Frisco Bowl, the college fixture that closes out the season in this corner of Texas.
