Trikala Municipal Stadium
Formerly: National Stadium of Trikala, Diagoras Stadium
South of the centre, on Katsimidou, the stadium in Trikala carries a history that outlasted its own name. It opened in 1950 as the National Stadium of Trikala, was known for a time as Diagoras Stadium, and only later took the municipal title it holds now. That renaming habit has not stopped: in April 2024 the city set in motion a plan to attach the names of two local athletics champions, Christos Papanikolaou and Sofia Sakorafa, to the ground.
