Trudovye Rezervy

The stadium sits in the lower hollow of the Zasora ravine, in Kirov's historic centre. It opened on 5 December 1958, built with the hands of local students and Komsomol volunteers, and the name has never changed since: a tribute to the Soviet sports society Trudovye Rezervy . Through the 1950s and 60s it hosted more than one sport — football, bandy, athletics, speed skating — and even an international bandy fixture between the RSFSR and Sweden. Clubs like Dinamo Kirov, Olimpiya, Lokomotiv and Progress all played here at one point or another.

Then, on 25 May 1968, a fireworks display for a city holiday ended in an explosion that killed 39 people. The ground never really recovered its old life afterwards. Organised sport faded, the site passed to a private owner in Perm in 1997, and by 2014 a court had declared it a hazard. That year it returned to municipal ownership, and a first repair round in 2014–2015 laid artificial turf on the main and small pitches but left the stands untouched. A second, larger overhaul in 2021–2022, funded under the national "Demography" programme, redid the pitch base, added running lanes and a new drainage system, and repurposed the old surface into two mini-football pitches — though floodlights still weren't part of the work.

The terraces remain the unresolved part of the story. As of the most recent work, they still stand in a half-ruined state or rely on temporary structures, and protected-zone restrictions have complicated any plan for proper seating — including a shelved idea to shape the slope into a sports-school logo.
