The forest name came first, and it stuck. When the ground was broken in 1982, on a fresh site beside the old pitch, the club's home was Waldstadion an der Kaiserlinde. The naming rights went to a pharmaceutical firm in November 2014, but the Kaiserlinde stayed attached to the end of the new name rather than being replaced by it.

What the 1983 opening actually delivered was grass. The previous ground had none; the new one was laid to 105 by 68 metres of natural turf, and that was the change people noticed.

The rebuild came much later and in awkward stages. Work started in June 2013, once SV 07 Elversberg had gone up to the 3. Liga, and the budget ran to eight million euros. The lower tier of the new main stand on the Lindenstraße side was finished in October 2013; the upper tier, with its boxes and roof, followed in 2015, along with undersoil heating at the end of that year. Then defects were found. The upper tier stood there, built, for another five years before it was cleared for use in 2020. The south stand for the ultras was rebuilt from December 2015 and opened in October 2016.

By September 2015 the ground held ten thousand. It filled to that figure on 12 August 2023, when Mainz took the DFB-Pokal tie 1-0 with a penalty on 73 minutes. In May 2019 it had staged the Saarland Cup final.
