The ground in Turku sits on a red running track, a ring of synthetic rubber that held on grimly through decades of wear before the pitch itself was replaced. The surface in the centre is now heated artificial turf, laid flat and even. The track is visible in the first photograph, where the stands curve steeply around the field.

The old Olympic stand, designed by Erik Bryggman, remains the most imposing structure, though a new eastern stand was built in 2023 to cover the modern needs of the clubs. The pitch itself is the only thing that has changed completely; the natural grass was dug up and swapped for the synthetic cover after years of damage. A banner in the second image, written in Cyrillic, hangs from the upper tier, a reminder of the stadium's time hosting international fixtures for the 1952 Games or the U-17 World Championship.

Inside, the seats are a bright green, a colour that are in control of the tie even on quiet afternoons. The clubs Inter Turku and Turun Palloseura share the space, and the crowd dallied on the ball during their local derbies for years. The arena has hosted matches for the Finland national side, including a win against Greece, but the atmosphere here is shaped more by the cold wind off the Archipelago Sea than by any single result.

The original stands were built for a different era, but the surface underfoot is entirely new. The running track is still there, marking the boundary between the field of play and the spectators. The stadium is the only ground in town that still carries the echo of the Olympic events, even if the numbers in the crowd are smaller now. The surface holds the ball true, and the stands put the game to bed early when the visitors came through.
