Volgograd Arena

Named Pobeda through construction, the arena spent the 2018 World Cup under a working title, Volgograd Arena. It stands on the site of the old Central Stadium, at the foot of Mamayev Kurgan, on the bank of the Volga; shoring up the riverbank against the water pushed the final bill to 19.456 billion roubles, well past the original estimate of 10–17 billion.

Construction ran from 2014, with Stroytransgaz as main contractor and the design worked up by Moscow's Sport-Engineering institute. The ground opened on 3 April 2018, though the first competitive match came three weeks later, on 21 April, when Rotor-Volgograd hosted Luch-Energiya in the second-tier FNL. Rotor has been the principal tenant since.

The attendance record set during the World Cup, 42,189 for Japan against Poland, stood for over seven years before being broken on 10 October 2025, when 42,387 turned out for a friendly between Russia and Iran. Beyond league and international football, the arena doubles as a venue for the Russian Super Cup and for concerts, natural turf and all — the pitch runs on a full irrigation, heating, drainage and supplementary lighting system.
